What is a clothing swap I hear you say?
A Clothing Swap is shopping with no money involved. All you need to do is bring along 5 pieces of clothing that no longer bring joy to your life but are still in good condition and swap it at the event for something else. or simply put, you bring your old and unwanted clothes to us where you can swap them for something new and exciting! So go rummage through your wardrobes, what have you not worn in a long time? Bring it along and trade with fellow swappers! It's that easy. Â It is good on the wallet and our environment too! You can find more information regarding the idea of clothing swaps: HERE
Why should you take part?
Free clothes! Need I say more?Â
Ok well actually... there is more...
We are all guilty of hoarding clothes we don't wear anymore or worse, disgarding the pieces we no longer have a need for. Sometimes this can be because they are old, not your size, maybe it's not in fashion now. Recycling them into somone elses closet means their wearable life is extended and helps reduce the items that would alternativley go to landfill. There is a real buzz you get from finding hidden gems in there!
So what about the clothes that are broken?Â
Well... we are trying to tackle those too! We have our very own sewing superstar Nina ready at hand with advice, at the DIY repair station. If you have anything that needs a quick fix in order to be worn again, feel free to use our machines and pick Nina's brain!
What happens to the clothes that aren't swapped?
Good question. Luckily we have our clothing swaps each season, so we will save the clothes for the next swap in 3 months!
On the day of the Swap:
Just bring along 5 items you would like to swap to Gantley's. We will have tables, clothing rack and hangers for you to place the clothing. (if you don't take 5 other items, please feel free to take back a couple of your own ones if you want)
We want to make this a fun day for our community so even if you don't have anything to swap still come along, we love to meet our fellow crafters for a cuppa and a chat too. See you there! Â
